Anxiety, Stress and Panic
_
Anxiety stress and panic are very common problems and can experienced in many different ways both physically and emotionally. A certain amount of short term stress is a normal part of everyday living and nothing to be concerned about. A short panic reaction may be useful to a life threatening event. However in today's fast modern life our ability to cope can often be over challenged. When anxiety or stress increases in intensity and frequency it can become chronic and overwhelming. It also can sometimes lead to depression and panic attacks. Another form of anxiety includes post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)- which is a severe form of reaction to a traumatic event such as a car crash or a rape so that a persons feels an ongoing fear, has flashbacks and nightmares about the trauma and does not seems to get rid of the anxious feeling even though the trauma may have happened months or even years ago. Stress and anxiety do not always show as a feeling but as a physical symptoms such as headaches, skin disorders, blushing, sweating or behavioral patterns such as avoidance lack of motivation or over eating. Hypnotherapy can help by not only producing a calmness but also by gently processing underlying unconscious unhelpful patterns of thinking or behaviour.
